Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Business Operations to join the College of Liberal Arts. This senior administrative officer will bring strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and demonstrated fiscal leadership to support the College's strategic and operational goals. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented environment and play a key role in guiding the financial and administrative functions of the College.
Reporting to the dean, the Director provides comprehensive administrative, analytical, and strategic support, serving as a key advisor and member of the senior leadership team. The position offers leadership in financial planning, organizational management, and strategic development while indirectly supervising and supporting administrative leads across departments and programs.
The Director plays a central role in financial oversight-analyzing data, developing multi-year planning models, and managing all aspects of the College's budget, including state, self-supporting, F&A, gift, and recharge funds. Responsibilities include preparing fiscal reports, ensuring compliance with institutional regulations, overseeing special course fee submissions, and aligning College financial goals with broader university processes.
Beyond finance, the Director supports academic and operational initiatives by developing staffing models, guiding resource allocation, leading accreditation reporting, and enhancing internal policies and procedures. They collaborate with university administration to address infrastructure and technology needs and use data to support strategic planning and curricular innovation.
In managing the College's operational functions, the Director fosters an effective organizational structure, supports recruitment and training, ensures compliance with personnel policies, and contributes to sensitive HR matters as needed.
The Director also represents the College on university-level committees related to fiscal and HR matters and contributes to strategic initiatives as assigned by the dean.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of related experience OR
Master's Degree and two (2) years of related experience

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees
The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. College Information
The College of Liberal Arts encompasses the disciplines of the arts, humanities, and social sciences, housing 14 academic departments/schools, two core education programs, three museums, two presses, and three centers, including the new Center for Constitutional Law. It also is a key partner in exciting interdisciplinary programs such as computational linguistics with Engineering, bilingual media with Journalism, forensic studies with CABNR and Science, museum administration with Business, and PackTeach with Education. The college is also heavily involved with the Concurrent Enrollment Collegiate Academy and runs two self-sustaining low-res MFA programs up at Lake Tahoe, both complementing the existing high-residency, MFA programs: Creative Writing and Interdisciplinary Arts. With a little under 3,000 undergraduate students, 400 graduate students, 230 faculty members, and 35 staff members, the College of Liberal Arts plays a key role in the education of all students at the University of Nevada, Reno.
