Position Summary
Assumes responsibility, in collaboration with the Office of Admission and Student Financial Aid, for recruitment initiatives for the College in an effort to effectively develop and implement various tactics that attract and retain qualified students, as well as to support the missions of the College and the University of Hartford. Handles highly sensitive information with confidentiality and tact while safeguarding the interests and well-being of the student. Performs all duties in full support of the University's brand, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the University of Hartford's core business - the education of students.
Hiring Range
Budgeted starting salary is $50,455 to $54,000, depending upon experience
Key Responsibilities
- In collaboration and consultation with the Office of Admission, plans and executes a strategy to recruit first-year and transfer students for the College. Acts as liaison between the College and the Office of Admission and Student Financial Aid and other university constituents to provide quality academic and student support services. Creates, develops, implements and facilitates the delivery of high-impact on-campus and off-campus admission events and visits including, but not limited to, open houses (in-person and virtual), admission visit experiences, admitted student events, scholarship events, lift-off and orientation events as well as local high school events that add value to recruiting. Tours families and offers them one-on-one information sessions on programs and the University. Conducts post-visit follow-up with prospective students and families in an effort to ensure all inquiries and questions are resolved. Plans, organizes, and attends recruitment activities and events for the College, and acts as the primary contact for inquiries regarding these events. Meets with College Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chairs and Program Directors periodically to review admission materials and specific recruitment strategies and activities. Attends all of the Office of Admission meetings, strategies and planning sessions, and other related meetings.
- Advises prospective students and parents regarding collegiate programs, application requirements and procedures as well as financial aid opportunities available at the University. Stays abreast of current curriculum requirements within each collegiate program in order to ensure appropriate and accurate information is shared. Works closely with Admission and Student Financial Aid, maintaining a thorough knowledge of the admissions and financial aid processes and guidelines. Maintains a working knowledge of graduate admission practices and programs to serve as a support to graduate recruitment efforts.
- Evaluates prospective student academic records, transcripts, and transfer credits to determine successful completion of degree requirements within a particular field of study. Reviews and evaluates student applications against University of Hartford and College-specific standards of admission to determine acceptance at the University.
- Trains and supervises cohorts of current student ambassadors within the college to serve as hosts for prospective students and parents during visits and events. Orders and maintains recruiting materials. Provides information to students, Faculty and staff through appropriate forms of communication. Represents the College on internal and external committees as necessary and appropriate.
- Participates in, and oversees as appropriate, other project-based initiatives in support of the collegiate mission and recruitment initiatives. Manages some collegiate student organizations (such as DECA). Manages admission process for college-specific accelerated programs (ex. 3+1 Accelerated Degree Program).
