Job Summary
The Office of the Chancellor is seeking a SAP Business Analyst for Human Resources, Benefits and Payroll to join our IT Shared Services (ITSS) Team. The position will work closely with the PASSHE Human Resources (HR) staff at the Office of the Chancellor (OOC), PASSHE universities, and others to provide advice regarding system capabilities, developing functional requirements, recommending priorities, performing system configuration, and completing assigned system deliverables in support of the human resources, benefits, and payroll functionalities of SAP with the primary focus being on benefits. This position will report to the Director of SAP Human Capital Management (HCM).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with and provide support to the Director of SAP HCM in completing day-to-day work assignments within the applicable functional areas of SAP HCM.
- Provide input/recommendations to the Director of SAP HCM on the feasibility and resources required to accommodate all fixes, changes, and enhancements to the SAP HCM functionality.
- Provide support for SAP HCM, including researching and resolving problems, unexpected results or process flaws, performing scheduled activities, recommending solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements.
- Responsible for system configuration to satisfy requirements from end users and PASSHE HR staff at the OOC and universities for fixes, changes, and enhancements to the SAP HCM functionality.
- Review technical developments in the marketplace relative to SAP HCM and advise on trends. Prepare documentation to justify acquisition of SAP or 3rd party software.
- Work closely with the technical staff to design and develop reports, forms, interfaces, and conversions.
- Assist in the development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs.
- Represent the ITSS HCM team in meetings with end users, other functional area analysts/teams, and other personnel involving exploration of technical applications to meet HR needs.
- Develop and maintain business process procedures and assist in the end-user training process as necessary. Must be able to conduct testing of changes and maintain documentation.
- Work with instructional design technologists as a subject matter expert to assist in the development of help documentation and other training materials.
- Collaborate with internal HR/benefits/payroll business partners to complete specific projects and tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of SAP HCM.
This position is primarily remote but occasional travel to System headquarters in Harrisburg or other locations for meetings may be required. Pennsylvania residency is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required):
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- As an alternative to a bachelor's degree, consideration will be made for any equivalent combination of education and experience including specialized detailed knowledge of the HR/Benefits/Payroll business processes required in the respective functional areas that would be achieved with a bachelor's degree and two (2) years of SAP or other HR/payroll system experience.
- Ability to work independently as a subject matter expert (SME) in a team environment.
- Ability to develop/lead training sessions.
- Analytical and organizational ability necessary to interpret user needs and requirements into a recommendation for system changes/enhancements.
- Ability to multi-task and work in an open team environment.
- Knowledge of business processes improvement methods using technological applications and solutions.
- An understanding of the impact of changes in a highly integrated information system.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least five (5) years of hands-on SAP or other HR/payroll system configuration experience.
- At least five (5) years of experience supporting the SAP or other HR/payroll HCM modules such as Personnel Administration, Org Management, Benefits, Payroll and/or Time Management modules.
- Experience providing end user SAP or other HR/payroll system support.
- Has participated in at least one full cycle SAP or other HR/payroll system upgrade and/or annual Support Pack application and testing.
- Experience with SAP Fiori applications for HCM.
- Experience with or knowledge of SAP version S4.
- Functional Human Resources experience in the benefits area. Experience with payroll and/or time management administration a plus.
- Knowledge and/or experience with SAP in Higher Education or Public Sector.
- Experience working with relational databases and tables
- Analytical and organizational ability to interpret user needs and requirements into a recommendation for system changes/enhancements.
- Experience in creating technical specifications for programmers.
- Benefit and payroll processing experience.
